Tiger 3 Movie Review
Overlong, hot, and overdone. But is that all? No. Tigers change stripes—who expected that? Salman Khan, with a story by producer Aditya Chopra and a screenplay by Shridhar Raghavan, proves that an irrepressible hero leaping off all kinds of perches and landing on his feet is always compelling in his third film as Tiger.
Though gender-agnostic like Pathaan and War, Tiger 3 benefits from the lead actor’s star power. Katrina Kaif gets almost as much screen time as the indestructible Tiger, who returns in the third film in a bigger, brazier form.
The heroine, a cruel spy, gets a significant action sequence in a Turkish hamam while wrapped in a towel to fight a lethal Chinese agent and martial arts instructor (played by Michelle Lee). Their cool is huge. At least the two clean towels add a layer to the film.
The YRF spy universe isn’t for realistic, close-to-the-bones espionage novels, but Salman and swag will find a lot here. For added variety, this film’s villain isn’t a scowling Pakistani spy. He challenges the hero.
The bad guy declares his aim to wipe India off the face of the planet, but Emraan Hashmi’s screenplay and performance make him more than a single-minded antagonist.
The stunt doubles rather than the performers dominate the first part of the film. In the second, Salman and Katrina jump in and are joined by another superstar repaying a favour from his earlier film in the genre.
Tiger 3, directed by Maneesh Sharma, reveals its plot in three scenes. Zoya’s (Katrina Kaif) origin story begins. It is brief and set in London at the turn of the millennium. The prelude also introduces a character who will shortly become larger-than-life, albeit less so than the hero.
In Sequence 2, R&AW head Maithili Menon (Revathy) orders Tiger on Mission Timepass, a rapid rescue. Tiger 3 achieves its goal of “timepass” and more.
Skip to next scene. The guy Tiger is accused of saving from a location where no Indian agent has ever survived says he fired at the agency’s all-weather, all-terrain man for no personal reason.
The story becomes personal for Tiger, Zoya, and former ISI agent Aatish Rehman (Emraan Hashmi). The conflict is between truth and half-truth, betrayal and redemption, blackmail and resistance, democracy and dictatorship, and double agents and true allies.
Tiger 3, set in Istanbul, St. Petersburg, Vienna, Islamabad, and a mountainous high-security prison in Pakistan, is notable for Tiger, Zoya, and their team fighting a group of ISI and Army renegades who want to overthrow the country’s peacenik prime minister, Nasreen Irani.
On Independence Day, the prime ministerial enclave in the Pakistani capital’s kitchen, bunker, and stables host many critical action scenes, expanding the concept of a surgical strike.
The tale revolves around Tiger, his wife, and their friends, Rakesh Chaurasia (Kumud Mishra) and Anand Rao (Anant Vidhaat). The plot covers the spy-couple’s son, Junior (Sartaaj Kakkar), and a pregnant Pakistani agent, Shaheen (Riddhi Dogra in a cameo), who is related to two crucial characters.
Watching Tiger 3 requires a willingness to overlook logical errors and action block monotony, especially when they overstay their welcome. They all do that eventually. Sharper editing would have helped Tiger 3.
The forest Tiger lives in has strict laws. Half measures are unacceptable. This spy thriller delivers everything three times and with abandon. Grab or lump.
Tiger 3 often prioritises action above acting. The stunt choreographers, cinematographer (Anay Goswami), and VFX crew deserve praise. As mentioned previously in this review, each of the action high spots keep the film moving until overkill snuffs them out.
Despite its technological prowess, the picture would have failed without a star or two to lend some shine. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif shine in Tiger 3, despite its slow pace.
Revathy and Simran’s performances in Tiger 3 go above surround sound despite the Diwali-themed fireworks. Salman and Katrina illustrate that pre-spy universe character development works.
Since espionage, explosions, gunfights, and hand-to-hand combats are permanent, we should get used to it. Tiger 3 may assist. It is a film that mostly stays on track.
